Nfl Tickets - Teams Deal With Injuries Before Season Starts
The National Football League has kicked off their preseason
, starting with the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 8, which saw the Dallas Cowboys top the Cincinnati Bengals 16-7. The rest of the teams started their preseasons between Thursday, Aug. 12 and Monday, Aug. 16. Those games will be a warm-up to the regular season, which begins between Sept. 9 and Sept. 13. Fans are already securing NFL tickets for the various games of the season, but some teams are also already dealing with injuries that could affect the outcome of this season. Below is a list of the players who have suffered injuries before the preseason even started.Lynell Hamilton, New Orleans Saints: The Saints are riding high off the 2009 season, which saw them having a dream run to win the Super Bowl. The team showed strength on both sides of the ball, part of which was thanks in part to their depth at many positions. One of the players who added depth was third-string running back Lynell Hamilton. Unfortunately, it looks like Hamilton won't be able to add the depth this season, as he tore his right anterior cruciate ligament when the Saints practiced with the New England Patriots before preseason. He needs surgery, which could sideline him for a year. Last season, Hamilton saw action in nine games and tallied 125 yards and two touchdowns.
Marcus Easley, Buffalo Bills: Rookie wide receiver Marcus Easley's first season could be over before it even started. He is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left leg, although the Bills won't confirm the extent of his injury. He was the Buffalo Bills' fourth-round draft in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Elvis Dumervil, Denver Broncos: The loss of linebacker Elvis Dumervil is perhaps the biggest loss so far this offseason. Dumervil recently inked a lucrative contract extension with the Broncos, but he won't be able to take advantage of the incentives anytime soon. He is sidelined with a chest injury that required surgery and could keep him out of all of the season. Last year, Dumervil led the league with 17 sacks, and he has been a top contributor since he entered the league with the Broncos in 2006. In his four seasons with the Broncos, he has tallied 129 tackles, 43 sacks, eight passes defended, one interception and 10 forced fumbles.
D'Qwell Jackson, Cleveland Browns: The Browns won't have to be without Jackson for long, hopefully, as the inside linebacker recovers from a chest muscle injury. He could be back in as few as four weeks but up to eight. Jackson missed 10 games last season with a similar injury, but still managed to tally 59 tackles, two passes defended and one forced fumble.
Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts: Colts owner Jim Irsay confirmed that veteran center Jeff Saturday had arthroscopic surgery on his knee, which could sideline him for as little as two weeks or as many as six. Saturday has been with the Colts since he entered the league in 1999 and has been a leader on the offense since then.
