Moscow Refining & Petrochemicals Week

The 10th Moscow Refining, Gas & Petrochemicals Week 2011 gathered more than 450 Industry Professionals


The popular annual event organised by Euro Petroleum Consultants (EPC) was traditionally held at the end of September this year in the new ultra-luxurious Lotte Hotel in Moscow.

The week comprised of three conferences IGTC, RPTC and RRTC, respectively on Gas, Petrochemicals and Refining technology. The series of events brought together up to 500 professionals, representing gas and petrochemicals producers, refiners, licensors, suppliers of equipment, contractors, design institutes, consultants and government organisations.

The 3rd International Gas Technology Conference & Exhibition IGTC was integrated within the Moscow week for the 3rd year in a row and is now establishing its position in the week.Moscow Refining & Petrochemicals Week


The event covered the market issues impacting the development of the international and regional gas industry including the Shale gas developments as well as Gas monetization challenges; Important technology developments in gas treating, Transforming natural gas to chemicals, petrochemicals and fuel, Utilisation of associated gases and gas transportation, Challenges facing Russian LNG projects

One of the topics that provoked an active discussion and raised controversial opinions & viewpoints was the discussion moderated by Alexey Khmelnitskiy from Analytical Group Erta on the future of the GTL in Russia & CIS.

Leading technology providers such as UOP, GTC, HALDOR TOPSOE, STAMICARBON, SAIPEM, LURGY etc. contributed to the conference agenda, presenting the latest technologies and case studies on successful implementations. With special interest was received the presentation of Denis Solomatin, General Director of SIBUR-VOSTOK on Alternative Sources for Petrochemicals or Alternative Feedstock.

The delegates of both IGTC and RPTC enjoyed a joined cocktail with live piano performance sponsored by UOP.

The 10th Anniversary edition of Russia & CIS Petrochemicals Technology Conference RPTC, as usual provided important technology updates on olefins, polylines and aromatics. The event shed light into the future of the petrochemicals industry internationally and in Russia & CIS: Mr. Alexander Kilyachkov from the Ministry of Energy of Russian Federation presented the government plans for development of the refining, gas & petrochemicals industry in Russia; The outlook of Global Petrochemicals to 2016 was traditionally presented in an outstanding presentation by the managing director of CMAI EUROPE Mr. John Bonarius and the Impact of world petrochemicals on Russia & CIS was overviewed by Mr. Bulat Zarifulli of NEXANT. The event addressed the challenges, latest innovations, technology solutions & lessons learned on how to generate value & improve efficiency, productivity and profitability.

The conference established itself as a benchmark and we hope that we will keep meeting your expectations, maintain a high standard keeping you up to date with the petrochemical developments and be a focal point for meeting fellow industry professionals for many years to come- said the President of Euro Petroleum Consultants Mr. Colin Chapman during the RPTC 10th Anniversary Cocktail. Among many regular RPTC delegates, the organisers took the opportunity to show their special appreciation to Mr. Valery Vassilenko from NovoUrengoy Gazprom, who attended all 10 editions of the conference.

With a welcome cocktail sponsored by Foster Wheeler commenced the 11th Russia & CIS Refining Technology Conference & Exhibition RRTC, EPCs traditionally best attended event which attracted up to 300 delegates this year. The event was enriched by presentations by Prof. Vladimir Kapustin, General Director of VNIPINEFT, professionals representing the leading technology companies such as Axens, UOP, Criterion, Shell Global Solutions, KBR, Dupont, CLG and Haldor Topsoe as well as contractors as Foster Wheeler and Technip and more have presented their solutions on how to meet clean fuel challenges and specifications, shared the latest FCC technologies and catalysts updates as well as options to increase efficiency and optimisations. Case studies including examples from Ukrtatnafta and Groupa Lotus have been received with great interest.

The event concluded with the long awaited traditional Panel Session which summarised the issues raised during the event. The top industry representatives who took part in it have made some important conclusions and shared opinions on the future of the industry.

As always the events provided great networking opportunities for those who wanted to expand their business contacts & sales leads in the region, for which contributed the expanded exhibition area which this year accommodated more than 30 exhibition stands.

The networking was further enhanced by the Impressive Sushi Gala Evening held by Shell Global Solutions and Criterion in the famous MEGU restaurant, awarded best new Moscow restaurant for 2010. While enjoying an elegant live jazz music, the RRTC delegates were served Japanese delicatessen and sushi specially prepared in front of them by the best sushi chef in Moscow - Takashi Hoshi San and his team in the exclusive atmosphere of the restaurant.

The Moscow Refining Gas & Petrochemicals Week has yet again proved that is an unmissable event for those involved or interested to develop in Russia & CIS downstream industry. It is now an established forum for exchanging ideas and experience between the companies involved in gas, refining and petrochemical industry, for establishing new contacts or meeting old friends, in order to reach one common goal - to improve product quality, competitiveness, reliability and efficiency of plant operations in Russia & CIS.

The organisers are now looking forward to another event dedicated to the Russia & CIS the Executive Oil & Gas Summit in Dubai (16-17 February), which will attract the most senior representatives from the Oil & Gas Industry in Russia & CIS who will gather together to discuss strategic plans and best options for shaping the future of the industry in the region.
