Money Isn't Everything According To Recent Job Survey

Everyone has a dream job. Perhaps, you are among the lucky working in it right now, but most of us aren't according to a recent Job Survey. Still, everyone has an idea about what their dream job would be, what they would get out of it, where it would be located and much more. One thing is for sure, everyone has a dream job tucked away in the recesses of their hearts.

People, perhaps being social creatures, preferred to work with others, 62%. Over half, 59%, would like their dream job to be partly physical and partly mental, while 34% preferred just mental work. The remainder, 7%, selected physical work only when asked this question. A clear majority, 68%, would enjoy being their own boss while fewer, 30% of panelists, would like to have a boss who is flexible. A very small percentage actually wanted a somewhat strict boss. Still, it's interesting that 32% of people favored having a boss.

When respondents were asked how they would find their dream job if they were to pursue it. Over one third, 36%, claim that they would follow their instincts, while 22% would attempt to get guidance from experts in the field. The same number, 22%, would go online to job web sites, and 6% would use social networking sites like LinkedIn or Facebook. The others would use a variety of sources to locate their dream job.

Almost one third of panelists would like to work overseas, preferably Europe. Because work often defines who we are in these modern times, it is possible that many people's dream jobs are part of a dream lifestyle. Further research would have to be done to determine the reasons behind this.

While 10% of people believe others work in their dream jobs, the reality is that 24% claim to be doing just that. This means that a lot more people are happy with their work than we think. In fact, 47% indicated that they are very or extremely satisfied with their current jobs, dream job or not. Additionally, more educated people tended to be more satisfied with their work as well as married people. So, what did respondents point to as the most important aspect of a dream job? Money, power prestige? Nope. Most of us just want to be happy.
