Usually when people write to me and ask how long a certain amount of weight (or pounds) is going to take to lose with Medifast, they are mostly asking about an even number with a zero on the end. So, I'm often asked about losing 10, 20, 30, 50 and / or 100 pounds, with 50 being a very popular number. People are often trying to plan for a specific event that is tied to their goal. This might be something like a wedding, reunion, or even the summer season. And they are trying to figure out when they need to start the diet to ensure that they reach their goal in time.

For the purposes of this article, I'm going to be focusing on a fifty pound weight loss, but hopefully the information provided here will help you determine how long it will take to reach your goal no matter what number that specific number entails.

Figuring Out How Long It Would Take To Lose Fifty Pounds On Medifast Based On Typical Results: Let's start out by clarifying what the company's literature (as well as clinical studies) indicate that the typical results might be. Most sources estimate this at somewhere between 2 3 pounds. The average of this would be about 2 1/2 pounds per week.

If you consider that you are taking in a lower amount of calories as well as taking in more fiber and protein (with less carbs and sugar to boot,) most people would have to admit that this is an accepted recipe for pretty accelerated weight loss. The foods in this diet (which are mostly provided) are designed to put your body into ketosis where it's now forced to burn fat rather than carbohydrates.

How Can You Ensure That You Lose Your 50 Pounds As Fast As Possible When On Medifast?: I sometimes have people who write to me and ask if skipping meals is a way to lose weight more quickly. I really do not advise this for many reasons. I've actually tried this and it only slowed my progress. The thing is, as I mentioned before, Medifast relies on ketosis. If you get out of this state, your weight loss will slow. And, if you don't give your body enough fuel, you risk this slow down.

You are much better off being diligent with your "lean and green meals" and making sure that you're keeping your carbs and sugars in check than skipping meals. I also recommend using ketone strips at first just to make sure that your lean and green meals are keeping you right where you need to be. Staying in fat burning mode ensures that you maintain steady weight loss.

The final thing that I want to mention is that usually the two pound range is pretty easy to obtain without exercise. If you are willing to add even a little bit of additional movement into your regimen, you will often yield results that reward you for this. Even power walking or biking can make a difference.

If you take the average of this (at 3.5 pounds) you're looking at about 3 1/2 months to reach your goal. Of course, every one is different and this is the average. Most people don't lose the exact same amount of pounds each and every week but they have a pretty consistent average. And even at five months, this is not an eternity to wait for an entirely new body.
