Man has been designed by nature to eat a balanced diet, and not restrict or eliminate specific food groups. A balanced diet helps you lose weight if portion control is implemented, the latter which means eating a bit of everything, including your favorites.
In order to lose weight yet remain healthy, it is important to know how many calories you should eat and burn. The number of calories you should consume depends upon your gender. Calories may be different for a man or woman, especially depending on their body structure as well as activity level. Be sure that your meals each day include all the food groups. Make a timetable for your meals and how many calories will be in each meal.
Junk should be kept at a minimum, and more emphasis should be given to healthy food. In a balanced diet, it is always best to eat cooked and fresh food. Processed food, like cakes and fries, should be avoided. Plus, special care should be taken while consuming carbonated drinks and sweets as they can affect health badly. One should opt for dishes which are baked and cooked in their own juices rather than fried. However, fats should also be added as required in an individual's diet.
Add fruits and vegetables to your diet. For people on diets, at least five portions of fruit and vegetables should be eaten each day. Research suggests that this can help protect against diseases and combat obesity. This is because fruits and vegetables supply you with essential vitamins and minerals which give you energy, and due to being low in calories, maintain your weight as well.
Physical exercise is known for providing loads of benefits, especially when it comes to losing weight. Depending on the duration and intensity of the exercise you do, your body will need some extra energy. For this purpose, food with carbohydrates should be increased in the diet. Fluids should be taken to prevent dehydration and to compensate for the loss in minerals and carbohydrates. Hence, during exercises, intake of drinks, especially water, should be increased.
