Proper identification of head lice is necessary in their treatment and prevention
. This must be done before using natural treatments and remedies. Both the head lice and their nits are visible to the human eye. they are not microscopic parasites that can not be seen. This makes it easy to identifying them with a simple examination of the scalp. The egs or what are called nits will be present and can be seen attached to the hair close to the scalp.
Head Lice do not fly or jump. Head lice are only spread by direct contact of two people. Schools have many preventative measures in place due to the fact children suffer more from infestations than adults. It will take time and diligence to properly prevent the spread of lice but it is not a hard job. Lice only live about 24 hours off from a human head and they do not multiply or lay eggs other than near the warmth of a persons scalp. You do not have to fear them multiplying in your home.
Those living lice that have fallen off their victims head will seek out a new host if contact is made. All that is required is the every day household cleaning appliance. Treating your home with Bombs and other pesticides is not necessary. Clothing, bedding, towels and any other materials the victims has come in contact with need to be washed as soon as possible in hot water. Cleaning of counter tops and other surfaces can be done using products that you would naturally use in routine cleaning.
Because many parents do not want to use any form of pesticide or chemicals to treat head lice the use of natural head lice treatments is becoming common. These treatments are both natural and they work very well in killing lice. One such treatment is Mayonnaise. To use this method you simply apply a good portion of Mayonnaise to the scalp. It will be a messy job and the use of a good shower cap is required. After applying a good portion of Mayonnaise put the shower cap on and leave it in place overnight. Mayonnaise will be difficult to wash out due to drying but the process of removing it helps in removing the nits.
Tea Tree Oil, Vinegar, Lavender, and Coconut Oil are applied to the scalp in the same way as above. The products mentioned as well as using mayonnaise will suffocate the and kill the head lice. After this process is completed the next step is to remove the nits from the hair. The nits or better said head lice eggs are attached to hair follicles using a very sticky formula and they are difficult to remove. Mouth wash is a highly suggested product for disengaging the nits from the hair. The chemicals in mouth wash are safe and natural so they are not harmful but serve well in dissolving the glue making the nits easier to remove.
There are several natural treatments for head lice and some work quickly while others take time and several applications. To be sure the majority of natural remedies need to be re-applied in about 7 days. Some home remedies will do the job with only one application.
