How To Speak Kindly To Your Children

How To Speak Kindly To Your Children

Kindness is your ultimate solution for your parenting problems involving kids who rarely listens to anything you say

. When you speak to children with kindness, you will have a greater chance at getting their attention and keeping their interest in everything that you say.

Your child will understand that the things that you say as well as the tone of voice that you use reflect your current mood and feelings. However, most of the time they get the wrong message and take everything you say personally. That is why speaking to your child softly is recommended - your child follows your request without feeling negative.

But in order for you to maintain a positive sense of communication with your kids, there a few techniques that you should put to practice. The first technique is by choosing and using gentle words. Are you familiar with the old adage, "If you cannot say anything nice, then do not say anything at all?" Aside from making sense to life in general, this also applies to parenting as well.

Always remember that kids are highly sensitive creatures who want nothing but to please their parents and the rest of the world. So see to it that you use gentle words like "please" and "thank you" as much and as often as you can. Using these gentle words will create a positive atmosphere at home and will help make sure that your message gets across clearly.

Another technique is by being mindful of the tone of voice that you use when talking to your child. You need not sound like an old shrew just to get your son's attention. According to research, both adults and children respond to positive messages that are said in a pleasant tone more quickly compared to those said in shouting. When you lose your temper, your kids will surely get the message, but it is usually the wrong one and they will end up avoiding you.

Using a friendly voice will make your kids listen to your instructions. That is why shouting and yelling at your kids is also ineffective. Yelling to your kids, even to your spouse, will create nothing but tension and bad vibes around the house. But if you speak more respectfully, your home will become a safer and a more peaceful place.

But perhaps the most important and equally challenging technique that every parent should do is transforming criticisms into compliments. When you tell your kids what is right from wrong, you have to make sure that you make a positive start.

If you criticize children, they will feel like failures. But when you inspire them through encouragements and compliments, they will not give up easily and will strive to be successful. Use encouraging phrases such as "Keep going, you are almost there", "I'm really impressed with your efforts", and "You are getting used to it now, that's great.
