How To Sell Other People's Information Products On Ebay
There are two ways to make money by selling other people's products on eBay: as a Joint Venture or as an Affiliate.
1. Joint Venture
A joint venture is where two separate businesses work together to the mutual benefit of each other and their customers. If I have a great product that meets the needs of people in a certain niche and you have built up a list of people who are interested in that niche, you can recommend my product to your list of customers and we split the profits, usually 50:50.
Your customers benefit by getting access to a product that they might not otherwise be aware of. Although I give you half the profit on the sales to your customers, I benefit by making sales that I otherwise wouldn't have made. You benefit by getting profit on sales that you otherwise couldn't make because it's not your product. A nd this arrangement can work both ways. You might have a product that I can offer to my list of customers.
You might find lots of information products for your niche when you are researching your market. Rather than being your competition, the suppliers of these products are your potential joint venture partners.
You must only joint venture with good quality products that you can honestly endorse. Recommending poor quality products, or providers with poor service, to your list will ruin your relationship with your customers. Before approaching someone to do a joint venture with them you should test the product and the provider by first ordering it yourself as a customer. Then return it to check that they honour their returns policy. If the product and service is good, you can ask if they would be interested in a joint venture.
2. Affiliate
Affiliate programs are like Joint Ventures that can be arranged automatically at the click of a button. The vendor who's affiliate program that you have joined provides you with a unique link to their website for your customers to use.
When your customer clicks on the unique link provided to you by the vendor, they are taken to the vendor's website and the software that manages the affiliate program knows that they are your customer (because they have used your link to get to the website). If your customer buys the vendor's product, you will get paid commission.
Many websites that sell products have an affiliate program that you can join. If you have come across websites that are selling products in your niche, look for an "Affiliate" tab or link on their website. It won't cost you anything to sign up as an affiliate and it's very easy to do. Just click on the Affiliate tab/link, fill in your details and they will provide you with your unique link to promote to your customers.
Or you can find THOUSANDS of products that you can promote as an affiliate at www.clickbank.com, www.cj.com and www.paydotcom.com. You can set up a FREE account with each of them and then browse their categories to find products relevant to your niche. When you select a product, they will provide you with your unique link to promote to your customers.
Now, you can't directly sell someone else's product on eBay through regular auction listings if you don't have a re-sell licence. But you can sell someone else's product through eBay's Classified Ad format, or as a back-end product DIRECTLY to your EXISTING customers AFTER they have already bought something from you on eBay.
You could locate a product to promote as an affiliate on www.clickbank.com, www.cj.com and www.paydotcom.com, and then buy a related ebook with resell rights on eBay or through a Google search. You then have a ready-made information product line with the ebook as your front-end product and the affiliate product as your back-end. You sell the ebook on eBay with a minimal starting bid and No Reserve and then promote the back-end affiliate product to everyone who buys the ebook.
Or, better still, locate several different products in your niche that you can promote as an affiliate and several different ebooks in your niche with resell rights that you can buy. You can then sell an ebook as a front-end product and use the other ebooks as FREE bonuses to add value. You can then offer your customers each affiliate product in turn. People who don't buy your first back-end product may buy the second, and so on. You might also be able to locate other people's products that you can offer your customers on a joint venture basis.
You can set up several different information product lines for several different niches in this way, WITHOUT having to create ANY products of your own!
Now, I did say that you can't sell other people's products as an affiliate through regular auction listings on eBay. But actually you can IF YOU KNOW HOW ...
Did you know that you can put one link in your auction listing to another webpage that further describes your item? So, you can put a brief description of your item in your listing with a link that says: "For more information on this item, click here".
On the webpage that appears when the link is clicked, you MUST have further information about the item that you have listed on eBay. But this page can also display links to items that you have for sale outside of eBay. If you don't have your own products to sell through your own website, you can sell other people's products by putting your affiliate links on this page!
Alternatively, you can sell other people's products as an affiliate or as a joint venture by using eBay's Classified Ad format. If someone buys your product through your eBay Classified Ad, they are buying DIRECT from you, NOT through eBay. So you can put your affiliate link, or the web address of your joint venture partner, in your actual Classified Ad listing. Always make sure you only ever deliver good quality information products. If you offer rubbish products you won't get any repeat business from your existing customers.
