How To Keep the Weight OFF during the holidays!
It is that joyous time of year again! We can all expect fun get-togethers and parties, gift giving, warmed hearts, and three to five extra pounds of weight!
There are a few things you can do to actually lose or maintain your weight this holiday season!
1. Make healthy recipes for each phase of eating! What I mean by this is, prepare at least one healthy dish for the main meal, one dish for a healthy hors devours, and one healthy desert alternative. This will give both you and others healthy choices!
2. Did you know that when you are hungry, it is a sign that you are dehydrated? By drinking eight to ten glasses of filtered water per day you will keep yourself hydrated and you will not be as hungry! I recommend that you have your first glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning because you probably didn't have any water overnight and it will rehydrate you right away. If you stick to drinking more water, you may notice an increase in your energy levels because water is needed for your cells to function at their highest level and when they do, your health and energy levels improve!
3. Get More Sleep! When you are less tired, you won't feel the need to reach for the sugary fatty foods! Also, with more sleep you will be able to handle holiday stress better and enjoy the holidays more!
4. Keep active. Make sure that you take the time to exercise. This will keep your energy levels up, and your metabolism and you will burn fat! One of the best things I started doing for myself was to walk briskly for thirty minutes per day. I feel refreshed and energized after every walk.
5. Have some of those tempting, great tasting foods that we all wait till the holidays to have! Enjoy the fun of holiday traditions. Do not get upset with yourself when you over-eat. Just move on and try to adopt healthier habits most of the time!
By making a few healthy changes to your holiday routine, you will get more of the nutrients your body needs, you will not gain the holiday pounds and you will feel fantastic. Try it this year!
