Familiarize yourself with designer item prices. A lot of used designer goods are being sold online. People who buy used clothing online usually look for designer items first. Familiarize yourself with the going rates of both brand new and used designer goods. That way, youll know if youre looking at a good buy or if youre simply being ripped off. Just because its a designer item at a discounted price doesnt mean its worth buying, especially if its overpriced for something thats pretty much worn out.

Know your keywords. Sometimes, typing in Gucci bag in a search field may not yield all Gucci bags. When you buy used clothing from online stores, type in other search words that may yield more results. For example, Gucci clutch and Gucci handbag may bring up search results which otherwise would never have come up.

Find out why a used item is being sold. You may want to find out why a used item is being sold. If the reason is not stated, dont hesitate to ask. That way, you get to dig for important information which you would otherwise not have found out. For example, a used item may have been listed due to a factory defect and you would not have found out if you hadnt asked.

Be patient. When you buy used clothing online, it is not the same as buying brand new items as there is usually just one item and just one size available. Do not expect that you will find what you need with the same ease as when you shop for something brand new. When you try to buy used clothing online, remember that the process of finding a hidden treasure is just as much fun as finally holding it in your hands!

Find a place to buy. There are typically three types of online places where you can buy used clothing. There are Web sites owned by consignment stores. Then there are users who sell on their personal blogs or social profiles (e.g. Facebook, Flickr). Finally there are e-commerce marketplaces like Craigslist.org, eBay.com or Smashion.com. Wherever you go, make sure the site has security features that keep you and your credit card information protected. Buy from trusted websites. It is always better to err on the side of caution.

Read through the terms and conditions. Online sellers usually have their own set of terms and conditions. Read through them carefully before you commit to buying used clothing. Make sure you agree with how the seller wants to ship the item, how payments will be made, how much the shipping and handling fees are, and so on.
