A Head louse is a petite parasitic insect that lives in human hair and survives by the little amount of blood which is obtained by it from scalp

. Such parasitic insects cannot fly nor jump; they do not leave a host themselves and spend their live in the scalp of a single individual. Lice found on human head do not infest on pets and lice found on pets do not infest people. Head lice are a world wide problem such infestation is caused by poor hygiene and it can also be acquired from other infested people. It is observed that a single host has approximately less than dozen of lice on the scalp but may have many feasible lice eggs. Something good about lice is that it does not cause diseases neither they transmit any kind of infections. You can easily get rid of the Head lice, all you need is a nit comb, day light and a magnifying glass. This treatment is ideal for small children as the head lice shampoos and chemicals for head lice cure can cause adverse reactions to the sensitive skin of small children of 2 or 3 years.

Nit combs can be easily obtained from a pharmacy or from a pet supply department. If you are looking for a cheap nit comb they visit pet supply department. Nit Combs are easily available in steel and plastic as well. Nit combs are for pets and humans as well, they may differ in styles and designs but both are equally effective. Comb your hair through nit comb daily for two weeks but make sure that the comb must come into contact with the scalp; this will help you in getting rid from adults, nits and nymphs. Now day's electronic lice combs are also available but they are less effective then the traditional combs. As electronic combs do not reach till the scalp and eggs of louse remain on their place. Besides home remedies there are anti lice shampoos which contain toxic chemicals. Before using such shampoos it would be wise to follow the directions mentioned on the packet or bottle. Such shampoos should be used after getting the advice from health care department. Head lice can also be found on eyebrows and eye lashes, in such cases lice should be carefully removed manually with using any chemicals.
