The day when they no longer have to go to work is one that is dreamt of by many people around the world. For a considerable number of people, retirement is seen as a time during which relaxation and leisure take over and new activities can be tried.
Research conducted by MGM Advantage confirms this. It surveyed a range of consumers and found that 57 per cent of adults expect to take more vacations, potentially including golfing holidays, once they reach their post-work years.
And it is not only golf holidays and other such adventures that people are seeking to do after they give up their jobs.
More than half of those polled (54 per cent) expected to take up hobbies and other recreational activities during this phase of their lives.
However, while many people are planning golf holidays and other such trips, they may be disappointed once they actually give up their roles, the firm noted.
This is because they may not have sufficient money to fund these adventures.
Over four million people have had to cut back their spending after entering into their post-work years.
In addition, 601,000 retired individuals have had to return to full or part-time employment since they officially left the workforce.
For this reason, consumers have to be very careful in terms of how they plan the finances of their later lives so they ensure they can make the most of them by engaging in activities such as golfing holidays.
Director at MGM Advantage Craig Fazzini-Jones said: "You cannot start preparing for retirement too soon, whether that means paying into a pension, building a pot of savings or talking to a professional for advice."
There has been an increase in the awareness of retirement planning over recent years, with the government launching various initiatives to get people to save into pension funds.
By doing so, consumers can make golf holidays a reality as opposed to simply a dream.
