A nanny is an individual that takes care of a child or children that is not their own

. There are many perks and pitfalls to taking on a nanny job, nannies are responsible for the care and the well-being of their charge. Persons seeking this type of employment should exude confidence, patience, skills and tenderness.

There are many different types of sitters or caretakers and many different duties and pay rates. Childcare positions can be a live in, live out, part time or night only. Individuals may hire someone whose only responsibility is the children while other may hire someone to care for kids, upkeep the household, cook, and run errands. The employer might offer a set salary or hourly pay while others may offer benefits that could include medical, dental and use of a vehicle.

A live in position is one that requires the person hired to move into the home for the days they will be working. The employee usually has their own accommodations and access to meals as well as other things. The pros to this position can be peace of mind for the parents and saving money on transportation for the sitter. The cons might include boredom and solitude.

A live out job is the exact opposite of a live in one, the person will travel to the home care for the kids, complete other duties and leaves at the end of the day. Depending on the person the area and the situation some employers might ask the person they hire to wear a uniform or to dress casual with hair pulled back while others tend to be more laid back, requiring no dress code from their employees. One rule goes for all though, and that is to care for and treat the child or children as if they were their own.

There are quite a few ways to find nannies and to find a nanny job, like word of mouth, ads and newspapers. One of the easiest and safest ways to being matched with someone is to go through a job agency or nanny agencies. Finding an agency is as easy as skimming through the local yellow pages or performing a web search.

Nanny agencies are very popular and known worldwide, firms can find caretakers in Africa, in New York or in Surrey. These placement firms usually conduct background checks, check references and perform interviews. Some may charge the person seeking employment to pay a fee before they are hired while others may charge a fee after the fact.

Being a nanny can be fun, exciting, challenging, boring, frustrating and heartwarming. A caretaker can also be defined as being a second mom or a mother helper. Individuals often grow attached to the children they are paid to take care of, developing a bond that may last long after their position has expired.
