With all the news about childhood obesity it is not surprising that many parents become concerned about their children's weight
. However, with regular exercise and a healthy diet you will have no problem with your children remaining slim, energetic and healthy.
There has been recent research that has revealed that exercise helps to lower children's risk of certain diseases. As well as having physical benefits, regular exercise can also help to improve your child's self esteem and emotional well being.
When young children get into the habit of taking part in regular exercise they can carry this habit into adulthood. They are less likely to take up unhealthy habits of smoking and over drinking.
Below are 4 ways to help your reluctant children become more motivated to exercise. Share:
1) One if the most popular sporting activities for kids and families is the trampoline. This type of exercise is so much fun that your kids feel they are not actually exercising. Using the trampoline can help to improve your bodies balance and coordination. All that jumping provides a great cardiovascular workout that is sure to burn off those extra calories.
2)For those days when it is raining outside there is the temptation switch on the TV. To avoid this buy a couple of skipping ropes. You can also make an indoor assault course using foam balls to crawl through and baskets to throw the balls into. You can introduce more excitement by making it a competition with prizes. You can divide the teams into boys versus girls or kids versus parents.
3) Make outdoor activities a family affair. You can plan little day out expeditions that can include trekking through the countryside or forest. To make it more fun ask neighbouring families with kids to join in and make it a big day out.
4) A great way to build closer relationships with your children while keeping fit and healthy at the same time is to find a hobby that the whole family can share. For example, activities could include sailing or waterskiing.
Although the above ideas take a little organisation there are a few easier changes that can also make a difference. For example, rather than taking the car to the shops or the kids to school use your feet and start walking instead. The simple exercise of walking on a regular basis will do wonders for you and your kids. Walking also provides a better opportunity to communicate and bond with your kids compared to driving when you have to concentrate on what you are doing.
