1. An online home business is easy to make money with. I love the sales copy that talks about the guy who sits around in his underwear and makes $1 million a year working no more than one hour from his computer.
I have no doubt this is true for a handful of people. I would be willing to bet that these overnight sensations spent years learning how to run an online home business.
Anything is easy when you know how to do it. However, starting and running a successful business is going to be hard until you master a few Internet marketing skills. It's actually easy to sit down and learn how to do it, but many people will quit before they ever reach that point.
2. Internet marketing is expensive. I spent 20 years in the offline business world working with small business owners.
I know for a fact that running a successful offline business is very expensive. I also know for a fact that Internet marketing is not very expensive if you do it correctly.
If you don't have money you can trade your time and actually develop an online business that makes you money. Writing and submitting articles for traffic is one way to do this.
You can also budget a certain percentage of your online income to grow your business. Outsourcing and hiring employees is by far the best way to do this.
Internet marketing is expensive only if you are careless in how you spend your money. However, if you manage it properly you can build a very large online home business and not spend much money to do it.
3. Email marketing no longer works. I have found that this is just not the case.
I will admit that mobile marketing is changing the way people promote things. It certainly is a good strategy to get as many cell phone numbers as you can and promote using text messages.
But, people still come online looking for solutions to problems they have. A well written email campaign can provide solutions and give you a list of subscribers you can sell your products and services to.
There are other lies that are being told online, but these are three misconceptions many people have. You certainly can make money and do it in a cost effective way once you learn how. Email marketing still works for building an online home business as well!
