Diaper Rash Treatment

Diaper Rash Treatment

I would imagine that there isn't a baby that has escaped the curse of a diaper rash. They can be very painful and upsetting both for baby and Mom or Dad. So what you need is an effective diaper rash treatment that can make the existing rash disappear as quickly as possible as well as prevent future flare ups.

Curing diaper rash is a journey every new parent will take. It is normal that your child has diaper rash at some point in time and no parent is so perfect that you will escape the experience. Don't freak out. You are not alone.

Diaper rash is caused by not changing your child's dirty diaper quickly. It happens to all of us. Entering parenthood can be scary, intimidating and overwhelming to say the least. When your child gets a rash it doesn't mean you are a bad parent! Just be as proactive as possible in dealing with it and your child will get over it quickly.

The chemicals of urine and stools affect your baby's soft skin causing rash to occur especially if the diaper is not changed frequently and immediately after the child would have soiled the diaper. Sometimes babies get affected from severe diaper rash. Signs of this condition are pimples and blisters. The skin starts to peel, bleed and fluid comes out of the wound. The rash spreads and would not heal immediately. The skin would get infected and gets red and swollen.

Rashes may also be caused by something from the inside of your baby's system. Don't rule out allergies to chemicals in the diaper if you are using disposable. Each diaper is made with a little different composition and may be causing your baby's rash. I did have one case of rash with my first darling that I couldn't seem to get cleared up. His skin was red and slightly puffy and was getting open oozing sores. No rash ointment worked.

There are many ways to get rid of diaper rashes. Most of these will stop it in about 24 hours. The quickest and easiest way to stop the rash is using over the counter zinc oxide or petroleum jellies. The ingredients in these ointments seal the irritated skin from being in contact with any moisture. They also have natural oils that sooth the skin to relieve the pain that is associated with the rash.

Preventing Diaper Rash: To prevent diaper rash, you can:

-change wet and soiled diapers frequently

-don't put the next diaper on until the skin is fully dry

-buy a different brand of diapers

-use diaper rash cream regularly

What is newborn diaper rash irritation and redness caused by? It is typically caused by excrement in a diaper. There are many cases where the child develops a rash simply because they are allergic to something they have consumed and when it comes out, the skin gets irritated. At times, juices that have citric acids in them can cause the rashes. This is especially true for orange juice and many other juices.

Diaper changing is not difficult even for a first time moms, but there are a couple of things that you need to know, so you avoid your toddler getting diaper rashes. This is because the baby has usually a very tender skin and it's very easy to get irritated during the day and night.

If a child gets thrush (oral yeast infection), it can spread into the little one's digestive tract, then into the stool. The stool ends up in the diaper eventually. It's not hard to understand now how infants can get a toddler yeast infection in the diaper area.

Other mothers swear by using cornstarch on your baby's bottom to absorb the baby's wetness, sometimes being used after spraying vinegar over the area and allowing it to dry. Still others prefer to use anti-inflammatory lotions such as Neosporin and Lotramin AF to help with the swelling and pain. Many pediatricians recommend using chlorine-free diapers to reduce the chance of a rash.

A baby with a skin rash that is blistered or bleeding, should be seen by a doctor. Antibiotics can be prescribed for painful itching if it is caused by bacteria. This can be administered topically or systemically, depending on the size of the area affected and the severity of the infection.
