Cloth diapers are breathable

Made from breathable cotton, cloth diapers are both durable and affordable. They are also good for the environment. Diapers made from natural fibers allow the babys sensitive skin to stay dry and smooth. They let the skin breathe freely and that way, they prevent diaper rash.

Being reusable, cloth diapers can save you lots of money. Over the period in which the baby gradually grows through diapers, you would have saved more money than by using disposable diapers.

Easy to wash and maintain

If you thought maintaining reusable cloth diapers mean tedious and endless washing from day to day or a huge laundry pile at weekends, think again. Organic diapers are very easy to wash, they take far less time than we usually fear they would and with regular and timely maintenance, they are pleasure to use. You can wash them in the machine or do it by hand, depending on which is more convenience and what suits your own situation. Get some useful tips on washing, drying and maintaining natural cotton diapers.

Great variety to choose from

There are many colors, designs, options and combinations in cloth diapers for you to choose from. Apart from the more popular and widely used white, you can also use shades of cream yellow or go for light pink. Most of the pastel shades, light colors and colored prints should be fine for any occasion. The only ones you may ever want to avoid may be blue, green and purple in very dark shades and other dark colors, unless they suit the baby and its other dresses much better.

Never Use Old Cloth

Some people believe that used old cloth has a worn-in softness that is more comfortable for the baby. This is not at all correct. It has been found that even though used old cloth seems to be very soft, when seen under a microscope it shows up thin spikes all over the surface. You can easily see that such cloth can chafe the babys tender skin when used in diapers or as baby wipes. Do not pick up old shirts or sheets to make your own cloth diapers.

Size of diapers

Cloth diapers are available in a range of standard sizes to suit most babies of diaper age group. There are also one-size-fits-all type of cloth diapers which will normally do well for any baby for most of the time. If your baby is a bit older or heavier, or if you like a freer fit, you can look for the next size.

How many diapers

Ideally, you can buy anything from twenty to thirty diapers when you start the baby on reusable cotton cloth diaper. As you go, you can buy in smaller lots or in economy packs such as a twelve-pack, it saves you money, time and a lot of hassle in repeated shopping. Your running stock of diapers also depends on how often you like to wash them and other such things. If you travel a lot, you must have plenty of washed and dried diapers on hand at any time.
