Humans are fascinated by chimpanzees, so it is no surprise that they are popular zoo attractions. In the wild, chimpanzees are mostly found in rain forests and wet savannas; both Uganda and Tanzania in East Africa , are home to Chimpanzees. They spend equal amounts of time on land and in the trees, although the majority of their feeding and sleeping is done in the trees.

Chimpanzees live in communities which can be made up of as many as 100 individuals. While the whole troop may never actually gather all together at one time, they do share a home range that is protected fiercely from intruders. Within a Chimpanzee community, females are typically not related and as is the case likely do not associate with each other they also may not be on friendly terms. Once reaching adolescence, females leave their 'families.' Males, on the other hand, share blood ties and are quite cooperative. In fact, a mother and her male offspring may continue to have ties to each other throughout their entire lives.

Chimpanzees are extremely vocal animals and use a wide range of sounds to communicate with each other; hooting, grunting, hollow tree drumming with their hands, and screaming, can go on for many hours. Chimpanzee plush, unfortunately, do not make any sounds; that will have to be left up to the chimpanzee plush toys lucky owner to produce.

A recent discovery of Chimpanzees using tools to collect their food, came as a shock to the world. With sticks, they are able to fish out ants and termites from their nests and with rocks they can smash open nuts. This amazing discovery clarified for scientists that it is not only humans that problem-solve by using cognitive thinking.

As part of their very social behavior, Chimpanzees can be affectionate with each other a lot and sometimes kiss when they meet. They are also known to groom each other and even hold hands. Females spend a great deal of time with their young and give them lots of attention. Of course, chimpanzee plush toys will expect nothing less of their new owner the more attention they get, the better.
