Can You Get Fatter Without Gaining Any Weight

In man's eternal quest for a better body and more attention many of us believe that we can lose weight and get thinner

. The reality is that weight loss and the perception of thin or fat is not the same as gaining fat or becoming thin. Let's start by defining a few of these terms.

In the first place, fat and muscle are two completely different tissues in the body. Individuals who are losing way should have a goal of losing fat tissue and not muscle tissue. Unfortunately, some of the diets on the market today do not make this distinction and are only interested in assisting an individual to bring the numerical value on their bathroom scale spiraling downward.

So, if fat and muscle are different and is losing weight should mean losing fat, what happens to the muscle?

In reality most individuals are not necessarily interested in becoming a size 0 model. Instead, they want to look great in a great pair of jeans or appealing in their newest summer bathing suit. And, in order to achieve those goals, an individual must do much more than just lose a couple pounds of fat. Those individuals who look best in their jeans or best in their bathing suit are those who incorporate gaining lean muscle mass into their program.

One of the biggest secrets in the weight loss industry is that you really cannot get the body of your dreams by just taking a few pills or cutting back on the chocolate and ice cream. Even if you consistently ate vegetables and fruit with the minimum amount of white flour, fats and animal fat you would not achieve the added benefits of looking good, having more energy, feeling better and decreasing your overall risk of weight related health problems.

All of these benefits come from adding even a small amount of exercise into your daily regimen. Your goal is to increase the amount of lean muscle mass that your body has in order to increase the amount of calories you burn on a daily basis as well as provide a greater support system for your body through out your lifetime.

Greater lean muscle mass helps to support your spinal column, decrease the amount of calcium loss throughout your life and therefore prevent osteoporosis, increases the amount of calories burned even at her resting state and increases your feeling of vitality and energy.

Too often individuals turn away from any type of exercise program believing that they must do an all or nothing approach. Remember that you are not training for the Olympics but are instead training your heart, muscles and lungs to respond in the best possible way throughout each and every day. This goal can be achieved with only 30 to 60 minutes of exercise each day.

And, the type of exercise you do this not mean you're running marathons, rowing down the Mississippi River or swimming miles and miles of the time. What it does mean is that you think about and intentionally design and exercise program that fits well into your daily system. You incorporate any type of cardiovascular activity you can over 30 minutes each and every day.

This cardiovascular activity can be as little as taking a walk with a friend or walking the dog or as much as learning to jog for 3 miles. When it's raining you can take the opportunity to use a rebounder in the house, when it's beautiful you can be outside or if you have the opportunity, you can use the gym at work.

Most of us have the ability to find enough time to do 30 minutes of cardiovascular work each day which improves our ability to get what he wants. It improves our success rate and decreases our health risks.

So the answer to the original question is yes, you can actually become fatter without gaining weight. You accomplish this by losing muscle mass while dieting or by decreasing lean muscle mass without any weight loss. The tissue that will grow without exercise are fat cells which is where energy is stored when we eat excess calories.

And while the answer to the question is yes there is also a solution that is easy, simple and definitely worth your time and effort.
