Wedding arrangements don't plan themselves; any wedding that blows you away for the sheer detail that went in to planning it has a lot of time spent behind it. Great wedding arrangements take a lot of time to plan and unlike traditional weddings; memorable weddings aren't put together using a few magazines and the local stores. A wedding ceremony is special only when there's some real ingenuity behind it.
It doesn't matter if you buy things from a big brand name or from a local vendor, what matters more is how you use it. Planning a unique ceremony will have more to do with how you put it all together. Everyone has the cake, the aisle runner, the DJ or live band but few brides manage to make it all stand out.
Before you can so much as say memorable wedding, you have to realize that you're going to be making traditional work with unconventional in a way that won't shock your grandmother to death. Some brides decide to forgo the whole cake business and save money by having cookie towers or something similar. Getting your family to play along with this might be a bit of a challenge so what you can do is play it up with the groom's cake. While the wedding cake is a must have, you can always substitute the groom's cake with something more fun like a fruit bouquet in his favorite sports theme.
