Atharv Yogshala is based on the banks of the Ganga River and nestled beneath the Himalayan Mountains on the outskirts of the Yoga Capital of the World, Rishikesh, India. ‘Atharv’ is a Vedic text of Sanskrit origin meaning ‘knowledge’. ‘Atharv also means ‘auspicious’ and ‘rejoicing’. It is also the name of Lord Ganesha, who is widely referred to as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the deva (god) of intellect and wisdom.
We are a traditional yoga teacher training school with a modern approach. We place equal emphasis on all the eight limbs of yoga as described by sage Patanjali in Ashtanga Yoga. That’s why we named our school Atharv Yogshala.
Atharv Yogshala truly reflects what we aim to bring to our yoga students through our teachings. This theme of knowledge , auspicious and rejoicing is carried through in the teachings we provide, the respect we have for yoga traditions and the acceptance of students from all traditions and lineages.
