Authoritarian parenting is a type of parenting where parents demand a lot from their children rules and orders best characterize their method of parenting. Permissive parenting on the other hand is a type of parenting where parents encourage their children to do what they want and do not set limits or guidelines for them. Speaking whether which of the two parents is the best is both challenging and d tricky as these two parenting patterns reflect the responsibility and freedom trends in our society. Under this study, an insight into the comparison between the two sides of parenting will be discussed through explained comparisons. In the present culture where the parent is in constant conflict with their children authoritative type of parenting remains the best.

Authoritative verses permissive parenting

Authoritative parents always think well of their children and would always want them to become independent, succeed, and capable to handle themselves in life. These parents are also considered the best at incorporating a balance between them, and the children. This is seen where, discipline is provided in a respectful way, and a firm stand when required to insist on critical rules. Permissive parents on the other side want their children to enjoy life, feel cared for, be creative, and be enthusiastic about life.

Secondly authoritative parents are known to bring up all rounded children easily accepted by the society, and with least friction, while children from permissive parenting are considered to have social problems shunned at by the society.

A survey conducted in Canada with universal research group showed that, authoritarian type of parenting is associated with most parents, 80% of the population, while those with permissive parents made only 20%.This was attributed to the fact that children are hungry for guidance as they go through life stages, right from childhood to adulthood with such proper guidance found under authoritative kind of parenting. A look at the consequences of both sides of parenting finds that permissiveness has detrimental results such as drug abuse and immorality compared to the consequences of authoritarian kind of parenting.

If the child does not respond well to the kind of parenting being administered, it is advised to change slightly to another. It's important to keep in mind that both the child and the adult should have their opinions and needs clearly spelt out.
