A Digital Baby Monitor Has Its Disadvantages

A Digital Baby Monitor Has Its Disadvantages

When it comes to children, parents are very protective

. New parents are especially watchful over their newborn child, not only because parenting is new to them, but also because they don't want to miss any moment of their child growing up. Whether it's the first word, a giggle or the baby's first steps, parents don't want to miss these milestones. We all realize that we can't be there every second of every day- we have jobs, we need sleep and other things that can take our attention away for limited amounts of time. This is where the use of a baby monitor comes in.

If you are new to parenting and are on the market to buy one of these products, you may have already decided before shopping that buying a digital baby monitor is the way to go. After all, this is the age of technology and a digital model is the cutting edge when it comes to these. It is true that these are the 'latest', but remember that downsides do exist with all digital technology, so these aren't necessarily the 'greatest'! It is important for you to know that a digital baby monitor- though it provides great sound quality, better reception and more flexibility than former models- has disadvantages that you may feel outweigh the benefits.

With a digital baby monitor, electromagnetic waves are used to transmit sound, so there is a small risk posed to the health of the users of these devices. Similar to all other digital devices, there is controversy surrounding the technology used these products, too. Electromagnetic signals are used in these and other digital products, so there is a potential for causing health problems. Because babies are at points in life where growth and development are happening so rapidly, it is thought that they are more susceptible to health issues caused by these waves. Manufacturers have advised that parents place the transmitter as far away from the baby as possible (like putting it across the room) to minimize risk, if not eliminate it. Do you really want to take the chance?

Another disadvantage with a digital baby monitor is more parent-specific. This would be the price difference associated with these products. An analog model can be found at a much lower price than a digital baby monitor. Naturally this is due to the technology used. If you don't have a tight budget, then this would be no issue to you, but many of today's families struggle already with the expense of having a child and need to pinch pennies wherever possible.
