Normally I am writing about coming to PEI. Lets suppose that you are contemplating leaving while we are sorry to loose you here is an 8 step checklist to ensure that you leave with the cash!
I am assuming that you have chosen a PEI real estate agent and your home is listed and on the market. Your agent will want to begin to show your PEI home. This will include showing buyers who want to see your home as well as a more casual viewer, the open house visitor.

Make sure that you depersonalize by removing any surplus family pictures, childrens artwork, dog toys etc.
2. Is it Clean Is it really, really clean. People will be poking into your cabinets and closets. What will they find there? So make sure that you have done a very thorough clean. Pay particular attention to appliances, stove and fridge as if you dont pay attention you will pay in dollars and time!
3. Repaint Unless your home was painted 6 months ago and is a nice neutral white, repaint. Neutral colours are absolutely essential. Now is not the time to start experimenting with dcor. This also applies to the outside. PEI winters take their toll make sure your PEI home has the best possible curb appeal.
4. Finish Home Repair Projects Make sure that any home renovations that were started are finished.
5. Lighten Up! Make sure that curtains are pulled back in the day and lights are turned on at night. Add a few plants to your home, remove dying plants. If your furniture is heavy or too dark, or is in poor condition, consider throws to cover the worst.
6. Check the outside Curb appeal is everything. Make sure that gutters are clean and well attached as well as shutters and any other outside accessories. Make sure that garbage cans are out of sight, paths are clean and swept in summer and cleared of snow and ice in winter, as well as flower beds tidy and weeded and lawn cut.
7. Check Fido at the door Make sure that your pets are secured where neither they nor your visitors will pose any danger to the other. Make sure that there is not a lingering pet odour and ensure that litter boxes and the like are cleared away.
