4 Tips For Finding Good Insurance

4 Tips For Finding Good Insurance

Looking for life and health insurance in the Toledo

, Ohio area? Don't get taken for a ride. Here are 4 pointers to keep in mind.

1.Ask around for recommendations.

2.Use the Internet to research various insurance companies.

3.Meet the insurance agent in person.

4.Grill the agent with questions (in a friendly way).

A good place to start when looking for an insurance agent is to ask friends and neighbors for recommendations of insurance agents they trust. There are many insurance agents eager to take a small cut of your premium every month, but not all of them are professional. Not all are equally experienced. And not all have your individual interests ahead of their desire for a larger paycheck each month.

Talk to people you trust, people you know, and find out who their insurance agent is. Sometimes it helps to check with people in your similar situation in life. If you're single, ask your single friends whom they use as insurance agents. If you're retired or will soon be, check with people who are in a similar situation in life. For example, some insurance agents may know the best plans out there for families with small children, but don't have a clue when it comes to finding the best insurance for retired professionals. Others know a lot about getting good life insurance rates and health insurance plans for healthy single 40-somethings, but they really don't know the best options for single moms or young families.

When you go to meet the insurance agent in person, be prepared to ask and answer a lot of questions. If the agent doesn't know the answer to a question, he or she should take the time to find out the answer or get back with you. If they don't, it's a good bet that they aren't the agent for you. Good, reputable health and life insurance agents are the ones who have been around at least 5 years. If you select a younger or less experienced agent, make sure he or she has a mentor or senior partner they can turn to. If possible, go with the more experienced (but not necessarily soon retiring) insurance agent.

A helpful insurance agent will ask you a lot of health, and budget questions. You should be willing to discuss your monthly budgeted amount you plan to spend on insurance. If they keep pushing a certain product or plan, ignoring the fact that it's out of your price range, they aren't the agent for you. Dealing with someone who is always trying to talk you into spending more than you can afford is neither pleasant nor helpful, to say the least. Find an insurance agent who will listen to your needs, your budget, and answer your questions.
