Travel Sickness in the Car We spend a lot of time journeying in our vehicles, but if you get car sickness, this means that a lot of time is spent feeling unwell. One quarter of drivers claim that they often feel distracted and stressed out by a car sick passenger, and over sixty percent say that they have resorted in dangerous behaviour as a result. Forty percent have stopped on the hard shoulder (which is illegal. Hundreds of people die in accidents on the hard shoulder each year) and twelve percent have sped up to reach their destination quicker.It is interesting that despite this, less than half the drivers questioned said they had taken steps to prevent car sickness, and asked how they prepared for the journey people answered:Sorting out food and drink or the trip.
