A medical condition left this female executive deaf in one ear, causing her to hear mumbles from time to time. When it seemed like all she could hear were mutters from everyone, she decided to finally go for help. The mouth lip reading program of the Central Institute for the Deaf was where she enrolled, making her one of its first enrollees. The program is aimed at older executives who are leading more active lives while coping with age related hearing loss. As you get older, you lose your ability to make out the words that others are saying, says an audiologist helping out with the lip reading program. Preventive maintenance was the primary reason for why the lady executive enrolled in the program. Being able to communicate through spoken language is important in most careers. Only four students at most are in a class and the class would usually last for an hour a week in a span of four weeks.
