How targeting kids and teenagers is an intelligent move by cell phone manufacturers?

How targeting kids and teenagers is an intelligent move by cell phone manufacturers? A lot of cell phones fail in the market just because of targeting the wrong market. We can take the example of Google Nexus one. It targeted only those users who liked to purchase from Google online store. They thought it would work for them but it didn't. Soon they realized their mistake and started providing the cell phone to the retail stores as...more

Complaceny is Endangering our Children

Complaceny is Endangering our Children   I find myself writing today to vent after listening to an MSNBC clip featuring a Mr. Charlie Leocha, member of Consumer travel alliance. Apparently Charlie has been living under a rock his whole life because he can't think of one time when a young child has been used as a bomb or a human shield for the purpose of terrorism or war. Is Charlie not at all curious what our troops have said they have seen in the last 50 years during war. I found 1500 links with video that confirm children have indeed been used as shields and bombs throughout history. I suppose it is entirely possible that Charlie has never used Google, but I highly doubt it. I also think that Charlie is paid to speak against TSA and their pat down procedures and that makes his statements negligible. I am disgusted with the complacency of people in this country. We have it really good, and if I have to submit myself and my children to a pat down in order to ensure safety so be it. I think the comments made calling the pat down inappropriate and the implication that it is a form of molestation is outrageously out of line. To compare that to the trauma of...more

There's More to Kids' Gifts than Just PSPs

There's More to Kids' Gifts than Just PSPs It was only a straw poll. Yet the results were rather sad. Just a small number of the children bucked the...more

Patience. Patience. Patience: Caring for a Child with Autism

Patience. Patience. Patience: Caring for a Child with Autism Daily Challenges of Autism "The daily challenge of raising a child with autism is understanding that the thinking and processing architecture in the child's brain is different than yours," explains Ellen Notbohm, an award-winning author of books about autism and mother of an 18-year old autistic son. In Notbohm's book, "Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew," she states: "Some days it seems the only predictable thing about it is the unpredictability." Autism is different in every child so what works for one, may not be effective for another and autistic children do not necessarily have the same symptoms, or same severity of symptoms. This also means that the challenges of tending to children with autism may include feeding difficulties, communication struggles, aggression, hyperactivity, heightened sensory awareness, and more. The Power of Consistency Joy Smith, a mother of four, has a six-year old son, Adrian, who is autistic. Smith has found that consistency is a key way to help Adrian, but it is challenging. "I know that a stricter routine is better for him, but him being on a strict routine...more
