Isso é muito evidente no ocidente, sobretudo nos EUA que são, de certo modo, uma cultura já constituída ao tempo de sua industrialização, cuja identidade mostra-se ambivalente, ou como um espaço de cultura foracluída, hiperreal equanto ethos. Não é por acaso que são os maiores missionários do discurso do sonho. Uma cultura que se reduz a seu próprio modo de produção. E em todos os aspectos acima apresentados, constituem-se de modo muito semelhante ao Brasil. A dissolução (ao menos enfraquecimento) dos laços identitários coletivos (grandes grupos) é moderna, e se faz percutir nos grandes centros urbanos de todo mundo em que dominam os padrões ocidentais de produção.
