Your Baby's First Shoes
There is something inherently cute about tiny shoes. So cute in fact that many babies end up wearing shoes long before they need to.
While tiny trainers may look adorable, furnishing a child with shoes too early can be a mistake. Babies tend to need shoes when they start to walk and crawl, but before that it is much more beneficial to give their feet space to grow.
That is not to say that parents should not buy baby shoes at all. It just means that it is much more important to choose the right pair. The shoes should be flexible and give enough room for their feet to grow. They should also have soft, non-skid soles so that it is easier for them to get to grips with walking when the time comes. It is therefore important not to buy cheap pairs, but baby shoes made of breathable materials that are flexible and lightweight, designed for health and comfort. Even then, it is important to give them time out of the shoes every day so the feet can be properly exercised.
Any children's shoes should also be checked regularly as a child's feet grow at a great rate and shoes that are too tight can lead to deformities or problems in later life. Surprisingly, a child's feet may grow faster in spring and summer than in winter, so it is also important to bear this in mind.
Children's shoes, and especially baby ones, can indeed be extremely cute. However, the health of the child's feet is much important than the look. By searching in the right places though, it is easy to find shoes that are both appropriate and adorable. Healthy feet are happy feet, and a happy baby is much more adorable than any pair of shoes you will ever find.
