Share: There are many things that will be able to keep a company or organization from running as efficient as it should
. There are a lot of aspects and nuances that, if they aren't running at the right capacity or something isn't quite working right, it can hold everything up and make every aspect of the process less effective. These inefficiencies can mount up and hurt the company or organization. Falling behind, processing orders late, running out of material and not meeting deadlines not only affects the bottom line, but they are all negative traits that then become identifiable with your business or organization.
Nobody wants to do business with someone that cant hold up their end of the bargain. These inefficiencies ultimately lead to mistakes since workers are attempting to keep up with more demands from management and soon, short-cuts are being taken and the overall quality of the product or service decreases. The moment this happens, it's virtually impossible to get your good name back. Once lost, a reputation is hard to restore and can almost never be entirely restored. There are some things, some steps that can be taken in order to boost efficiency. It is not just about getting quicker at a process and just making it more streamlined. It does not help at all to make a process quicker but not to increase the accuracy.
The most efficient process makes no mistakes in the process. It's accurate 100% of the time and if by chance there is a mistake, it is discovered the first time it happens. How much waste occurs when a mistake is made and it is not found immediately? If a process is allowed to keep going, while mistakes are being made, then the waste isn't merely in the product that cant be used.
It is the wasted manpower, the wasted materials and the wasted relationships with the customers that now need to wait longer for their product. That is if they didnt already take delivery of the defective products. Hopefully, it does not get that far and there are some checks in place to not allowthe bad product to leave the plant.
It really is better to not deliver on time, which is bad enough, then to deliver bad, defective product. The difficult part of making any of these processes better, is getting started. It can seem overwhelming at the start, but can be broken down into manageable tasks.
