You can not only reduce costs by allowing people to go or take shortcuts. It may work short term but eventually it will catch up. You want to lean on the process of your company or organization by taking a careful examination of the processes involved. The process flow is the entire process from beginning to end, but it can be broken down into smaller, self-contained process that can be examined. It is usually something that comes out, it's obvious to everyone that this is a wasteful process, but this has simply not been fixed.
Now is the time to fix it. Now is the time to make the changes that have to do and stop wasting time and energy on inefficient processes. But how do you go about identifying and fixing problems? It will take some time, and it will take some work. And remember that you can not go it alone. It will take some work as a team and will have a team of people working together to get it done. It should also include people from other departments and different levels of competence and experience. There is also a good idea to have someone from the team that has been through a process like this. People with experience can be a very useful tool for a challenge like this.
Not until the group is together and the team members are picked should the actual changes and problems be identified. Remember, differing opinions and viewpoints might see things differently and what seemed like a big problem in one department might have a simpler solution than once thought.
