What Are The Icebreakers In Team Building Activities?
Share:
Team building is now a widely recognized way to build a group consciousness with co-workers
, volunteers, or members of a sports team. It was a way for the members of these groups to get to know each other better on a personal level, build trust, and learn the problem solving techniques that work best for their individual group. There are many types of team building activities; the type that is first used during a team building day is icebreakers.
Icebreakers are short activities that allow each member of the team to share personal information with the other members. They are designed to make people feel more comfortable and relaxed. They can even be silly at times. One common icebreaker is a quiz. Each team member gets a sheet of papers with questions on it such as: Who has traveled to California? or Who has the most children? They then have to go around and ask these questions of the other members of their team. This gets the team talking to each other, as well as sharing a little new information. This type of icebreaker is especially good if no one on the team knows each other yet.
Other icebreakers might involve memory games with peoples name or favorite foods, more active games like the human knot, or games that use props such as shoes or M&Ms to make people answer questions about themselves. Icebreakers are just the first of many team building activities your group will embark on.
