VTech First Steps Baby Walker Product Review

Stumped on what to buy for a baby or toddler? Hopefully this review of the VTech First Steps Baby Walker will give you some great ideas for toys to help develop their basic skills.

Vtech learning toys seem to be all the rage lately, from something basic like a telephone with flashing lights and sounds to whats essentially an iPad for kids. So this baby walker is actually a relief by comparison, because your children arent as likely to pick up the telephone and call Australia or start shopping online after seeing the sequence of numbers needed to unlock your tablet!

Suitable for babies from 6 to 30 months old, this first steps baby walker combines a traditional baby walker with a big playing panel which detaches from the front. So they can play with it as a walker, a play panel or a bit of both.

Its all very light weight and compact while having a large base and big chunky wheels with good treads, which makes it perfect as a baby walker for all sorts of indoor as well as outdoor surfaces.

The only thing is that the speed is set by the surface it is on and sometimes it is too fast so we only use it on carpet as it runs away in laminate flooring!

The play panel part detaches so children can sit and play with it on the floor and theres plenty to hold their interest and teach them all the basic hand eye coordination, balance and motor skills with plenty of lights, music, sound effects and a detachable phone to play with. So this ideal for babies who get bored easily.

Its also worth mentioning that we havent had to change the batteries once! Somehow Vtech have made a toy that seems to barely use any battery power but lights and makes all sorts of sounds.

This baby walker is really well built as well, so it will stand up to a toddler thrashing it about. So you can hang on to it for when your next child arrives.

The interaction is amazing, which is something VTech have become renowned for lately. For example, the push puppy button teaches your toddler to clap, point, stomp their feet and sing along with all the different music and sound effects. And our son cant stop giggling whenever he opens the peek-a-boo door.

Buying baby toys is never as easy as youd think and there are only so many cuddly toys a toddler can sensibly have. But Ive been really pleased with this baby walker and feel its money well spent.
