When was the last time you sit down and thought, really thought, about your values and how you incorporate them into your everyday life and business, as well as in your big vision for the future? Doing it often and thoroughly will make the true you emerge and shineand help you fulfill your life purpose! Here are 3 easy steps to take when you decide it's time for a value check-up: Write down your top 5 values The first thing to do is obviously identifying your most important values. If you have no idea where to start, jot down all the values you can think of, and then begin the selection process. Eliminate all but 10 of your highest values and continue this process until you're left with only 5 values the ones that represent you and your personality the most. If you have trouble choosing, compare. Envision different situations, imagine how you would feel by giving priority to one value instead of the other, and you'll get clear soon. The key to come up with the values that are the true expression of yourself is to let go of the guilt. Whichever values you choose, don't feel guilty for not having picked other values. Many entrepreneurs don't have 'family' or 'love' among theit top 5 values, although they do feel they're essential to their happiness, and that's OK. It's not a test you can fail! List how your values show themselves in you business and in your life Now that you have your top 5 values identified, you can observe how each of them manifests itself through different aspects of your business. Think about your business model, your customer service policy, your relationships with collegues, prospects and clients, your lifestyle, your attitude towards everyday challenges and business in general Leave no stone unturned and write down every single thought. It will be a precious asset when you'll be putting it all together to form your new 2010 business plan. Spot the problem areas not in alignment with your values You analyzed your business and your life as you've seen them through the value lenses now concentrate on those aspects that are currently not in alignment with your values. For instance, if freedom is your value, an inflexible schedule and insane working hours won't be a good fit for you. If your value is fun, and you're bored half the time, something's out of place. Brainstorm for ways to reach harmony between your values and your actions. If you already have a business plan for 2010 written, go through it again and check if it's true to you. Picture yourself carrying out what you've decided for yourself. How do you feel? It has to feel tremendously good don't settle for anything less!About the Author:
