The Biggest Blowout Deals Of 2009

Share: The year 2009 has kicked off with a new President and the same old economic troubles
. But what does it all mean to the discount shopper who is always on the lookout for blowout deals? Let's dust off the crystal ball and take a look at what products will experience the biggest price drops.
What are the Biggest Blowout Deals of 2009?
High Definition Televisions
The makers of HDTVs are in a panic. Only two years ago, the public had a seemingly endless appetite for their high-tech wonders. But things have gotten tough in America. And when people are worried about the state of their retirement funds, it's hard to get them to invest in a $1,000-plus television. As a result, the price of plasma TVs and HDTVs have come WAY down in recent months. Individuals can now get a major brand, 42" high-television for under $999 - a fact which would have been unthinkable in 2007. Look for prices to keep falling as the year progresses.
Portable GPS Devices
The hottest home electronics product for the past two holiday seasons has been portable GPS devices for the car, boat or purse. Now that one or two "generations" of these products have found their way to market, retailers and daily deals websites are lower the prices of earlier models in a big way. These discount items still have all the bells and whistle of earlier models, but they need to be moved in order to make room for new items.
Computers
Until recently, the personal computer market seemed impervious to swings in the marketplace. Year after year, computer makers filled a seemingly unquenchable thirst for newer, faster, smaller units. And out the door they went. But now that people have all the speed and power they could ever need, things are starting to slow down. That means the cost of laptops, and especially desktop computers (which have been all but replaced by advanced laptop units) have seen a radical drop in price.
Cars
If you ever wanted to get a great deal on a car, 2009 is looking like the year to get behind the wheel and find the automobile of your dreams. Carmakers are, for lack of a better word, panicking over recent economy-related drops in sales and will do just about anything to get customers to sign on the bottom line. The way to find the best deals is to research the car you want online and then go into a dealership well-armed with all your new found knowledge.
Homes
The housing market has been at the epicenter of the world financial crisis we are currently experiencing. And while that means devastation for many individuals who have lost their homes, it is also a time for those who have cash, or can still get a reasonable loan, to look for undervalued properties. This is a year that many people may remember because of the steal they got on their new home.
