Tackling The Parental Pressure
Today, even the primary kids are yelling out their career dreams and plans
, let alone the teens. Many school kids proudly claim that they want to end up as either doctors, engineers, astronauts, pilots or scientists. These study options are hardly self-bred by the kids. In fact, they truly even know what these high-posted people do, is also a statement not digested by many. But, the parents to these kids are the ultimate minds behind their careers. This is how early our parents, obviously unknowingly, put us under the pressure to deliver in the social world.
Every parent is concerned about their kids, but pushing them to a stream or a career option solely to fulfill their own dreams, is a bit selfish on their part. Although, some students fight their way out to touch their parental dreams, most fail in this cunning quest to success. The parents fail to realize the tremendous pressure and futile competitiveness that they thrust upon their kids, under which most kids end up with frowny faces. At times parents put such pressure, that the students who perform academically poor, often end up as wrist-cutters. The increasing number of suicide attempts, successfully magnifies this fact.
Well, with every generation, they say, the kids are getting smarter. But these smart kids rarely show their true interest in the early ages. And by the time they realize what they really want to do, they are sitting in an air-conditioned lecture hall of an A-graded engineering college. The kids have to be more open and aware about the career options that our universities offer. To study the courses and the syllabus of these courses thoroughly is the least they should do before making a career choice. Also, it is important to discuss the same with their over-concerned parents.
Lastly, parents should realize and accept, that every child has a talent. To help them explore, polish and later use this talent is something that our old-school parents should work on. It's high time they realize that every kid is special and gifted in some sense, it's high time they realize that 'every star is the same, when you see it in a relative way'.
