Both online retailers and brick and mortar stores count on holiday sales to boost
their annual sales revenues, especially since the holidays occur at the end of the fiscal year. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is known as the biggest shopping day of the year, as consumers take advantage of mega deals.This year, with the economy having plummeted and so many jobs being lost, it was up in the air whether such holidays sales would be as good as they have in years past. The answer so far, has been a resounding yes! according to reports which monitor online shopping numbers.
It makes sense; people dont want to venture out at 4am to get in line for a store opening, face crowds (often which get totally out of control), or leave the comfort of their homes to wait and shop in the cold weather. This is why shopping online is easier, faster and more convenient. Online retailers are just as trust worthy as brick and mortar sales and consumers have gotten over their nervousness about submitting their credit card information over the Internet (the same process occurs when a store employee swipes your card).
In addition to Black Friday sales, some online stores also offer a shopping day called Cyber Monday. Reports are back that these two holidays raked in big bucks for Internet sellers. The following reports are focused just on jewelry and luxury watch sales.
The Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) has said that 22% of U.S. shoppers bought jewelry and watches over Black Friday or Cyber Monday, compared to only 14% in 2008. Also, according to JCOC in 2008, only 7% shopped online while in 2009, 41% did.
When it comes to what people purchased, this study focused on jewelry and watches; two high ticket items which when asked, which of the two were on gift lists, explains why 58% responded none, 18% said unsure, 12% answered only one,and 8% said two.
When asked why neither jewelry nor watches were on their wish list, 40% of respondents answered that they didnt have the budget, 18% said they hadnt received a request for either and 11% reported that with the economic downturn this year, I dont feel right spending money on fine jewelry.
Here is more good news: holiday sales are not over and discounted (luxury) watches are easily and readily available at great prices when bought through an online retailer. No matter what you are in the market for, whether it be Cartier watches, Bvlgari watches, Omega watches, Tissot watches, Oris watches, or a Breitling, Raymond Weil or Movado; the list goes on and on. Speaking of Movado, the company just reported very low and unexpected third-quarter sales which mean that Movado watches may especially be selling for even lower prices. TAG Heuer, perhaps rocked and tainted by the Tiger Woods scandal, may also be looking for an undercover way to unload some of its watches.
Whatever the watch; whether its a mens watch or womens watch, each and every style be found for a great, low price on the Internet. And one need not worry about getting the real deal or not. Many of these retailers have been in business for over a decade now and sell only certified, brand new watches that come with warranties.
