The government upholds the welfare of senior citizens
. Senior citizenship starts at age 60, during which employees begin to consider retirement. In the United States, employees retire at age 62. Retirement is the legal departure from the working force. During retirement, an employee leaves ones work. Retirees use retirement savings plan to sustain daily needs. Some stay in their present home, whereas others choose to move to a retirement community.
A retirement community is a neighborhood for senior citizens. In Pennsylvania, this is also known as senior housing. Senior housing projects are developed in the suburbs. These are previous locations of manufacturing plants and factories. Housing companies develop barren lands and buildings. They convert them into houses, commercial establishments, leisure parks and recreation areas.
Adult neighborhoods are exclusive communities. More or less, occupants are in the same age range. Senior housing communities have an age entry requirement. Seniors are allowed to purchase houses in adult communities at retirement. Some communities have a minimum age of 55 years old. Others retain the 60-year old requirement. Average age increases as seniors in get older. Nevertheless, age entry requirement remains the same.
