for your business! Millions and millions of people watch Oprahnot just stay-at-home moms and retirees.

But, it's not just Oprah. It's not just shows with well-publicized book clubs or regular book segments. Talk shows NEED book authors. Daytime and late night talk show hosts want to interview book authors who attract the attention and interest of their audiences, who have written on topics that their viewers want to know more about.

A book is the ultimate promotional tool for your business. You should have at least one book youve written IF you want to get publicity, establish yourself as an expert, build your business, make more money.

What about you? Are you the author of a non-fiction book thats sure to generate publicity for your business? Notoo bad.

You could be on Oprah with the right kind of book. But, don't worry. You dont need to write a book that's the perfect, tell-all-about-my-topic book, that's an encyclopedia of information. A shorter, highly focused book on the right topic can get you the publicity you want.

Concerned about writing a book? Find a method for creating content that matches your way of approaching writing tasks. You dont even need to do it alone. Get helpco-authors, collaborators (experts in your field), a ghostwriter, talented staff member, etc. Then, write your book about a topic that has the potential to get you on TV.

What types of books can attract the attention of talk show hosts (and their producers)? Books written by well-known celebrities.

But, if youre already a celebrity, you dont need to be told how to get publicity. Or, the value of being a book author. Besides, if youre a celebrity, you probably wont be reading this anyway.

For the rest of you who arent celebrities, theres hopetheres always sex. Sex sells. But, unless your business is SEX, youve got to find a tasteful, professional way to tie sex into your business.

Suppose you manufacture bedroom furniture or sell mattresses. Write a book titled, 100 Tips for Turning Your Bedroom into a Romantic Retreat. Offer to set up a romantic room on the set of the TV talk show. Or, bring in a selection of accessories that can romanticize a bedroomfrom inexpensive to luxury items to fit all budgets.

Need another option? Find a holiday tie-in. Pick a few holidays associated with gift-giving. Write your book about special gifts to give to your friends and family on different holidays. Choose gifts that are the same kind that you sell. Include some of your own products in your book, too. Or, create a DIY book showing people how to make unusual gifts. Of course, most people wont make these gifts. Instead, theyll buy yours, ready-made.

Or, take a contrarian view to attract attention. Create a diet that goes against what most people believeassuming that your diet really works. Diets are always popular. Write a book that tells what your diet is, how it works, why it works, recipes based on your diet. Maybe, you wont get on Oprah. But, what about being on Rachel Rays show to demonstrate your recipes?

You could capitalize on a hot topic, if this is your area of expertise. The critical point for this approachdo it FAST! Get your book out BEFORE anyone else does. Remember, your book doesn't have to be an in-depth dissertation. It just has to get out to readers quickly.

Now, use one of these ways for writing a book that gets you on Oprah or other well-known TV talk shows as a book author.

Not sure if Oprah's really going to call you? Not a problem. Getting on the top talk shows isn't the only way to benefit from being a book author. Use your book to position you as the expert, someone the other show hosts want to interview.

Find talk shows that specifically target your market. These audiences may be an even better match for your business than the more diverse mass audiences of the highly popular national shows.

If you're not used to being on national TV talk shows (probably, this describes most people), think small. Begin with local radio shows. Then, do some national radio shows, possibly cable television programs. Practice with these types of talk shows before you progress to the biggiesOprah and national TV.
