Product Creation - Making Sure You Have a Quality Product by:David Hale
Too many Internet Marketers today start out creating a product they believe is the next best thing since sliced bread
. They spent all this time thing up and creating a product that no one wants or will buy. The initial steps any Internet Marketer must do is check out the Internet waters and see what is selling, find out what your prospective customers want, and most importantly, discover what they are buying.
So, how do you do this? Start by conducting keyword research to see what is "Hot" our there, as Paris Hilton would say. Get onto Google, Amazon, ClickBank and type in what you think your niche market is. See what is out there for products. You can see on Amazon, what ranking particular categories of products are. On ClickBank you can see what is selling, what product categories are moving, and what seems to bring in the most traffic.
Now, once you have narrowed down your niche area, and are as specific as possible, you must develop your product. Yes, you can start with a product that is not as professional as it could be with the Ready, Fire, Aim strategy as one of my colleagues does. This is okay when testing the waters and not wanting to put a lot of sweat equity into a product that may not get off the ground.
My particular approach is that I rather take the time to get my products as professional looking as possible. Nothing is worse than buying a product, like an eBook, and after downloading it, you see that the graphics are terrible, it has not been properly edited, and there are pages missing.
What can be the result of putting out a poor quality product or line of products that are not professional looking? Bad publicity for your product line and most of all your professional reputation.
The Internet is not that big that disgruntled customers won't start plastering your name all over the top blogs and websites with bad info about your products. Before you know it, no one is buying from you.
You do not have to be a desktop publishing, editing, or writing expert. Simply submit a project to sites like eLance, guru, rentacoder, or scriptlance asking for assistance with editing, writing, or desktop publishing, whatever your need may be. You will be astonished the number of hungry freelances are out there who bid for your project. Most of all, you will be surprised where they come from and how cheap they will work for.
Today, I posted two project on Scriptlance, one was for a logo design, and the other was for ebook editing, desktop publishing work for a cover, and the design of an inner page template for my ebook. Within 10 minutes I had eight bids coming in from places like Egypt, India, and Germany. The bid prices were very reasonable and based on my low ball budget amount posted.
Most of the freelancers have a portfolio of part projects you can check out for quality. Needless to say, if they do not have a portfolio of quality work published for you to look at, don't touch them. In future articles I will explore the subject of outsourcing to create products.
So, these days, there is no need to start a product launch with sub par product creation. Take your time and get it right the first time. Your longevity on the Internet Marketing Super Highway may rely on it.
