Its every parent's worst nightmare; their car getting stolen with their child inside, and being helpless to do anything about it. And a young couple from Missouri had their worst nightmares realised when their car was stolen from a petrol forecourt, with their six month old baby inside.
The family were relocating from Colorado to Missouri and stopped at Kansas city to refuel their car. Once it was full, they left the car running with their baby inside and went to talk to friends and pay the bill.
The opportunist criminal snatched the car and started backing out of the car park, potentially not realising there was a child in the car.
The parents sprinted to the car and the twenty four year old mother smashed her elbow into the passenger side window, smashing the glass. She then held onto the door and was dragged several feet, but managed to hold on. The father, aged twenty two, climbed through the broken passenger window and proceeded to kick the driver repeatedly in the head. The thief pulled the vehicle onto the kerb and fled the scene of the incident.
The mother and father had minor injuries and the baby was thankfully unharmed. Police are still searching for the suspect, but have CCTV footage of the incident to help them catch up with him.
