Parents have to discuss with your child what are those sites that you prohibit them from browsing and how should they behave as they try to get access to more information online. Parents also have to discuss with their children what could be the potential dangers that kids can actually encounter while doing such activities online.
If your kids are interested to create their own blogs, you will have to guide them as parents from the beginning. You must know what are your child's intentions why he/she would like to start his/her own blog. And at the same time be able to monitor what needs to be done to get your child understand certain guidelines in creating a blog. It is essential to parents to get involved with your child's social activities either if it online or offline. You should be able to create limits and parental controls to the contents that will be posted on your child's blog especially if this will be publicized. Let your child understand what should and should not be posted.
Aside from getting yourself involved with your child's blog, you should as well review the child's blog on a regular basis. This is to make sure that the child complies with the guidelines and the rules you set up with your child when it comes to blogging. This would help you monitor the content of the blog eve before having them submitted during review.
Now, you should also keep in mind that as your children create blogs or posts, they will have to search online for certain details to add to their blogs and additional information that they can share with others. To make sure that they are browsing on relevant sites and not putting themselves at risk, you will have to inform them about your limitations on this. You should as well monitor how frequently do they make their visits on these blogs because this may be interfering with their usual study habits.
Additionally, these blogs is not just a decoration online, people and the World Wide Web public will be able to view them after a review approval. If the child's blog is set up to receive comments, you should as well take a look at the comments being sent through your child's blog and monitor it. Aside from that, you should also monitor the sites or blogs where your child makes his/her own comments. As a parent, you need to make sure that your child shows the appropriate behavior with his/her blogging activities online.
