3. Not Keeping Your Stock information Updated
Almost all drop shippers supply stock information, you NEED to use this! If a customer buys a product which you can't give them, they may just take their business elsewhere!
4. Not Knowing About Your Products
You will likely need to outsource a variety of aspects of your business at one point or other, however you still need to be on top of things, and this means knowing the products you sell. If you can't answer your customers questions, they may just decide to buy elsewhere.
5. Not Knowing your Drop Shippers Return Policy
BEFORE you start selling something from a drop shipper it is EXTREMELY important to know what their return policy is! Do not assume that if for one item it's 30 days guaranteed, that all products will be the same! This way you'll be able to give refunds in a timely manner, or find a suitable solution for your client.
6. Not Adding Value
When you are supplying your store with products from a drop shipper, you won't be the only one selling the product. There will be hundreds, if not thousands of other people selling the same products. You need to add value to your products in order to keep them competitive.
7. Not Knowing Your Drop Shippers Shipping Practices
This can get embarrassing, if for some reason you offer overnight delivery, but then your drop shipper doesn't offer it... So make sure you know what time zone your supplier is in, what shipping methods they use, and when orders go out. You will likely field many questions in this area.
8. Not Knowing your Place
Many people who are new to the drop shipping business tend to forget that tweaking the website constantly, isn't going to be making you those sales. Your first order of business is to GET the traffic to come to your site! If no one comes, no one will buy, it is that simple!
9. Not Keeping Up with the Times
Many products offered by drop shippers are time sensitive. This does not mean they go bad, but that certain products sell better at certain times of the year. Drop shippers will generally have seasonal offers, which will pass on savings to your clients, and if you don't update your store to reflect that, they will go to another store which does offer the seasonal deals.
