Magic Tricks: Buy Them At A Magic Shop & Make Them Real

Anybody can buy magic tricks at a magic shop. But just making those tricks work isnt the same as being a magician. Its creating an atmosphere that is right for each trick that is what makes them really magic. Magic is one of the performing arts. The performer doesnt just do tricks, they create magic, and they do this by making the audience believe in those tricks.

You can find lots of magic tricks and illusions in a magic shop which supplies professional magicians. Many of the simpler ones such as card, balloon and rope tricks can be easily learned by amateurs. The difference is in the presentation of those tricks. If you want to know how to convince the audience, watch professional magicians presentation.

The popularity of comedy magic acts has increased recently, with the performers telling jokes throughout the performance, and sometimes pretending to make a mess of a trick, only to bring off an even more amazing one. They distract the audience by making them laugh throughout, which takes their attention away from the illusion being set up. One famous comic magician would pretend to be drunk as he performed his card tricks, and the apparent drunkenness would hide his dexterity of performance.

Shock is another mechanism that is increasingly used to misdirect audience attention. An example of a magician who uses this is Chris Angel, who pretends to place himself in incredibly dangerous situations. There is in fact risk involved in some of his illusions and amateurs should therefore not try them. Mistakes can happen with magic tricks that involve dangerous elements such as fire. Amateurs can usually not buy dangerous illusions at a magic shop.

Before going to a magic shop to buy tricks think about how you are going to present them so as to both entertain and misdirect the audience. People usually know that magic tricks are just that, tricks, but they also usually want to believe that its real. You need to suspend your audiences disbelief, so that at least for the length of the performance, they do believe in magic.

Only one small part of doing magic tricks is to learn how to work them. The most important aspect is to create an atmosphere which helps the impossible to appear possible. David Copperfield sets up the illusion for longer than he spends doing the illusion itself. The Amazing Kreskin uses subtle suggestions, rather like mass hypnosis, to suspend his audiences disbelief. There are books written by Kreskin, who has also trained police officers in how to detect lies and to recover witness memories simply by analyzing body language.

To make magic tricks convincing have a look at the ones you can buy in a magic shop and think how you could present them. Choose illusions you can present in a convincing and entertaining manner, and you are on your way to creating magic.
