Reading is the foundation of the educational experience of the children. The reading ability of the students should be developed in the 4th grade. If the child's middle school reading skills are not well developed up to a stage where they are going to face struggles and challenges it will make the progress worse.

1. Make reading interesting. One way to improve K12 reading skills is to help the children pick out reading materials that will interest them. Certainly, textbooks will not get the interests of the children. Parents must find ways to make reading interesting for them. At home, it is better to have the children read those things that catch their attention. Let them read things that fascinate them. For example, if you have a son, it is better to let him read topics involving video games or comics and magazine. Of course, parents should be responsible on the things your children are reading. Guide them when they read these things. If you have a daughter, she likes teen and gossip magazines. Your daughter can spend some time reading something she really enjoys.

2. Read stories to your child. One thing that will help children learn how to read is by reading to them some stories at night. With this, your children will have the enthusiasm to read things since you are doing it to them. Children will also have the interests on what you have read to them and will be encourage to do the same thing also. It is also advised to make variations while you are reading. Show to your children what you are reading. Read slowly and pronounce the words well. This will help your children be able to speak the right pronunciation of the words.

3. Make letters for your children. Children have fun when receiving letters that are addressed to them. Make it a usual habit, maybe once in a week to right letters or simple notes to your children, even instructional notes that will let them know what to do e. These things will help your children improve their reading and comprehension skills.

4. Ask assistance from the teacher. If your child is having a hard time to read properly. Or can read but does not comprehend well, it is better to ask assistance from the teachers. The teacher knows what the behavior of your child in school is. Ask for some advice and ways on how to improve the reading and comprehension skills of your child.
