Home-based Business: Pillar Candles Ii

Pillar candles are ideal for home decoration. They exude the beauty of the room because they are always capable of matching any theme. It is not a wonder why many business owners have candles as the niche for their home-based business. There are designs, shapes, color and sizes that blend with the existing furniture and other decoration.

Now,let us discuss the step by step procedure in creating pillar candles. But because the procedure is delicate, it is best to discuss the preparation of your molds and the melting of the wax, and other things first. Making pillar candles for your home-based business should be a serious but fun endeavor. Serious, because you have to avoid serious or major mistakes which could ruin your reputation or expertise on your niche. Fun, because you have to enjoy doing all these steps even to the point that you have to re-melt or repeat few steps, only to ensure that you do it right.

Begin by melting the wax of your choice on a pot. While waiting, prepare the wick for your mold. Ensure that it has the size of the hole of your mold. Insert the wick through the wick hole on the base of your mold. If the tip of the wick is frayed, making it difficult to pass through the hole, dip it into a melted wax and roll it through your fingers to make it pointed, then try passing it again through the wick-hole.

Keep the wick within the hole, and tie the other end of the wick to a wick rod. If you do not have a wick rod, you can use a wooden skewer, or any stick of appropriate size. You can also cut a straw into half and make a hole on its middle. The important thing to keep in mind is to make the wick straightened while the other end is resting on the base. Insert the end of the wick through the hole of the straw and allow the straw to rest on top of the mold.

Then work on securing the wick to its wick hole with a screw. Avoid making the screw tightened too much because it will either damage your mold or the wick. You will not use the screw to seal the mold. Its purpose is only to ensure that the wick will not slide back into the hole. After tightening the screw, cut the wick with a pair of scissor leaving one inch of the wick.

Now, it is time to seal your wick, wick hole and screw with a mold sealer, to avoid leakage when you pour over the mold your melted wax. To ensure a tight seal, press the sealer into the area. As soon as you are done sealing, no part of the wick or the wick hole should be visible to your eye. Allow the sealer to dry and to seal the wick and wick hole. Check the wax if it has reached its boiling point using your thermometer. It is wise that you know how to make things right especially if what you are doing has something to do with your home-based business.
