Floating flower candles are a wonderful addition to your candle-making home-based business

Candles are among the business niches that flourish in entrepreneurship.Unlike the common floating candles, floating flower candles are more attractive as they resemble a real flower such as sunflower, daisy or rose. The materials in making flower floating candles are no different from the ones used in making other types of candles, except perhaps on few points. For starters, you would need the following items:
1. Floating Flower Molds. The regular floating candles can use the same molds used in baking muffins and cookies. But for a flower candle that floats, you will need a specialized flower molds. Mostly, the flower molds are two-piece and can be purchased at candle-making stores. Check out the shops where you regularly buy your supplies for your home-based business. Common designs available for flower molds are sunflower, orchid, rose and, chrysanthemum and daisy.
2. Wax. You can use a blend of wax used in making a votive candle or pillar wax. An IGI 4761 is a good selection as it is creamy and low-shrink. Besides paraffin wax, you have other choices for a type of wax. There is soy wax made from soybean. There is also bayberry wax derived from bayberry fruit. Finally there is beeswax taken from a beehive.
3. Wick. For your wick, choose the one that is used for small candles. Better yet, use the one that is too small for a floating flower candle. You can 'wick down' a wick such as 44-24-18z so it would burn down through the center while floating.
4. Fragrance oils. If you want to have natural scent, you can use beeswax and bayberry as they have their own natural aroma. Since beeswax is obtained from beehives, it is only natural that it smells of honey. For bayberry wax, it too has sweet smell. But if you are using paraffin wax, then you can choose from among the several oils for your home-based business floating flower candles. The oils can be used even when you use the beeswax or bayberry wax.
5. Coloring dye. Besides scents, beeswax has a natural honey-yellow color, while bayberry has olive green. But even if you use any of these waxes, you can still use another color to override the original. If you use paraffin, then the coloring agent will really serve its purpose.
6. Clothespins. Another option is to use binder clips or any clips that could securely bind the two pieces of flower molds together.
7. Container. You will need a container to hold the mold. Any can or tall glass would do.
8. Melting pot. Besides the materials, you will also need a melting pot to melt your wax.
9. Stove. The common heating medium used in melting wax is an electric stove. But you can also use LPG if you have a gas stove, charcoal or firewood.
