Himfr.com Reports Reuters: The Amd Settlement Or Weaken The Anti-trust Charges Against Intel
According to Reuters news agency Web site reported that Intel and AMD Thursday reached
a settlement agreement, the latter agreed to pay 1.25 billion U.S. dollars to settle all legal disputes between the parties, it might help to weaken the anti-monopoly regulatory bodies for Ingle's charges.The settlement agreement put an end to AMD and Intel on a global scale between the stretch for 12 years of judicial disputes. Analysts expected, AMD will use Intel's money to pay 3.2 billion U.S. dollars to repay debt part of it. Affected by this news, AMD shares rose 20 percent in Nasdaq trading, Intel shares rose slightly.
Prior to this, Asia, Europe and the U.S. antitrust regulators have taken action against Intel, because AMD has accused Intel of anti-competitive conduct resulting in damage to their business.
Investment firm FTN Midwest Securities analyst Joanne Feeney (JoAnne Feeney) said the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has not yet decided whether to take action against Intel, but this agreement may allow Intel to avoid being the Commission's allegations. Feeney said: "The agreement the two companies cleared a lot of uncertainty. 1.25 billion U.S. dollars is a lot of money, I think that AMD will be using the money to accelerate their debt repayment process."
Federal Trade Commission Chairman Qiaoen Lei Bu Weici (Jon Leibowitz), said the committee will review the settlement agreement. He said in a statement: "We certainly plan on between Intel and AMD settlement agreement for review. The Federal Trade Commission is engaged in the activities of Intel's conduct an independent investigation, so we do not comment further."
Currently, Intel is facing from the New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (Andrew Cuomo) the allegations, and the company reached a settlement with the AMD will help to ease the pressure they face justice.
