Goal Setting & Strategic Planning Part III
People with the self-confidence to realize they are worthy of accomplishing great things through goal-setting are inner-directed and self-assured. They take control of their lives instead of letting others control their lives for them. Their validation does not come from people liking them or treating them well. These goal-oriented people are validated from within and are focused and determined to be successful. Three of the most dominating fears afflicting humans are:
1.) the fear of rejection,
2.) the fear of what people might say and
3.) the fear of change.
These fears compel people to become the person he or she believes will be accepted or recognized, which will vary from some degree with each new group or situation. You must overcome each one of these fears in order to be able to operate in confidence and assurance in who you are and what you can accomplish. Overcoming fear is essential in accomplishing goals, otherwise you will always be too afraid to reach towards big things and will end up frustrated, dissatisfied with life, and discontent.
There is nothing more frustrating in life than being unfulfilled and discontent in your purpose because you have not accomplished that thing on the inside of you. God has individually given each of us a purpose and the goals you set usually help you to live out your purpose. How? Because people usually set goals in the areas that are near and dear to their heart. Your purpose is always right there in your heart and so your goals are usually aligned to your purpose. The key is to take your individual unique gifts and talents to a level where they have never been taken before. With the gifts you have been given comes the responsibility to use and develop them. Keep your effort on the areas where you shine. Some of the things other people find boring will actually energize and enrich you if those things are your gift.
We have all heard the saying, "You can be anything you set your mind to be." But how many people take that literally to heart? I do believe that if your mind can conceive it and your heart can believe it, then you can achieve it. How many times have you pondered on something you have always wanted to do, but never did? When that thought comes to mind, do you feel bad or guilty about not having achieved or even pursued it? Why do you think you keep having thoughts and visions of it? The vision has been imprinted in your spirit for a reason. The desire in you is the power seeking to manifest. You are walking around with seeds of God's purpose inside of you, and you are not cultivating the seeds, nurturing the seeds, or watering the seeds so that they can grow and blossom to great heights. Why are you hiding your gifts from the world? It is not too late to go after your goal and express your gifts.
It is very sad to have lived forty, fifty, sixty, or even seventy years on I coulda shoulda woulda.. Time is waiting for no one. Make this new year a year of massive change for your life.
